The Spring Waterloo Jr Warriors program is Rep level football with a focus on competition and excellence.

If you want to be a part of USports football, then Waterloo Jr Warriors is where you’ll be scouted by USports schools. Over the last 7 years, there are currently over 80 Jr Warriors playing for university teams. Find out more about our Alumni Here.

Overview of the Spring Jr Warriors Program:

REP COMPETITION: Ontario Summer Football League
Our Varsity Spring Jr Warriors (U14, U16, U18+) will compete in the only sanctioned summer league, the OSFL. Our program provides the best opportunity for elite football players to represent Waterloo Region against top calibre players from other associations across Ontario in the OSFL, the largest and most competitive league in Ontario.

MINOR DIVISION (U10 and U12)
The Jr Warriors Spring minor division plays in the OSFL and focuses on improving fundamentals and skill development while providing a more competitive environment. Players learn the importance of commitment, dedication and team work.

GIRLS DIVISION (U16, U19)
2023 will be in the inaugural season for a girls ONLY football league. The Ontario Women's Football League sanctioned by Football Ontario.
The girls teams will be playing 6v6 football for the first season.

FACILITIES & COACHES

• Home Field: University of Waterloo - Warrior Field
• Each Jr Warriors team has their own dedicated certified athletic trainer provided by At First Therapy at all practices and games.
• Coaches: All Safe Contact certified by Ontario Football & Football Canada
• Many of our coaches as the U16/U18 level have university level football playing and/or coaching experience.
• Coach Buses for away games further than 100km
• Player swag packages for all athletes provided through team fundraising

U16/U18 Team Meetings

Every season usually begins with indoor practices and classroom sessions to begin playbook installations. The sessions will be broken out for positional groups and time will be dedicated to review game film and introduce schemes and plays that will be installed in the 2023 season. The virtual meetings will be an important tool for our coaches to connect with our athletes and provide instructional time while building a strong relationship with all players - an aspect of our program that we prioritize.

Try Outs - Winter Training sessions included

U16/U18 Tryout period starts January 7th at RIM PARK. Included in the U16/U18 registration fee is 11 weeks of team training held every Saturday night at RIM PARK Jan 7 - Mar 25 Winter training includes:
- Positional development
- Intro to Safe Tackle
- Athletic Training
- Playbook Installs

Practices through April and into mid May will be on turf at University of Waterloo Warrior Field twice a week. **Update for 2023 season: With UW replacing the turf on Warrior Field in April 2023, our practices from April - June will be at an alternate turf field location.
From mid May through the end of the season, practices are scheduled two times per week on turf for SV/JV and grass fields for Peewee - Bantam from 6:30pm - 8:30pm.

U16/U18 level and up have an additional one night a week game film review either via Zoom or at UW facilities.

Registration Required Before Try Outs Begin

Athletes are required to register for the 2023 Spring Tackle Season before try outs begin. You can choose to pay the entire fee upon registration or select the montly installment plan. Athletes (U16/U18) who are not selected for the final roster in April will receive a refund less $225 try out fee.
Tryout fee for U14 is $150

Equipment fittings are usuall held towards the beginning of March. Please be aware of our equipment procedures and policies.

If you require fee assistance for the 2023 season, it's very important you start the application process ASAP.
Please let our registrar know that you are applying for assistance so that we can get you registered in our system and give you a registration code for your application.
